WELCOME to Braidwood’s most storied address. The Doncaster has been many things. A grand hotel, a convent, a refuge, a private home. Now open again as a boutique hotel, with a boldly curated art collection and seven beautifully considered rooms worth staying in. It’s tradition and tomorrow, stitched together. Add your story to this next chapter. BOOK A ROOM

STAY

The Doncaster offers seven light-filled rooms in a beautifully restored heritage building in Braidwood NSW, just moments from the town’s main street.

Upstairs, each room features a private ensuite, air-conditioning and considered amenities from Sutram, LEIF and more. Select Standard Rooms feature deep baths, while Deluxe Rooms open directly onto the building’s wraparound balcony, overlooking the rolling countryside. Downstairs, a communal kitchenette, living and dining spaces invite guests to settle in, make themselves at home and perhaps strike up a conversation with whoever joins them at the table.

A complimentary breakfast at one of our neighbouring sister businesses, Provisions or The Albion, is included each morning of your stay.

Please note: The Doncaster is currently undergoing the final stages of its restoration. As we continue bringing this beautiful heritage building back to life, there are still some works underway throughout the property, and specialist trades may be working on site. These works are expected to be completed by late 2026. We've taken this into consideration when setting our rates during this period, and we hope you'll enjoy being among the first to experience The Doncaster as it takes shape.

Wellness

While our dedicated wellness studio is still underway, with completion expected in summer 2026, guests can enjoy our range of facial treatments and massages in the comfort and privacy of their room at The Doncaster.

During your stay, you’re most welcome to head down the road to our sister property, Mona Farm, and unwind in the lakeside sauna overlooking Mona Lake. Bookings required.

private events

Catering for up to 80 guests, our menus hero local produce and seasonal ingredients, paired with a stellar wine list and exceptional country hospitality from the Mona Farm events team.

We can do the serious (corporates and conferences) the unserious (hens and bucks) the milestones (birthday’s and babies) and our favourite: everything in between.

art and gardens

A growing collection of contemporary artworks by the likes of Gemma Smith, Tom Polo and Dale Frank live within our historic walls.

Outside, the formal parterre gardens, designed by renowned landscape architect Peter Fudge, unfold as a series of elegant outdoor rooms. Structured geometry, seasonal planting and quiet corners invite guests to slow down and settle in.

braidwood TOWN

The Doncaster sits on Park Lane, just off Braidwood’s main street, where bakeries, cafés, galleries, antique stores, artisans and country pubs line the historic town centre.

One of Australia’s best-preserved heritage towns, Braidwood is framed by grand colonial buildings and has provided the backdrop for iconic Australian films including The Year My Voice Broke, Flirting and Ned Kelly. It’s also said to be the birthplace of Mick Jagger’s “Brown Sugar”.
